Night Watch Apocalypse build: Gatling for MVP and raid, Pistol for PvP
Night WatchAs of 13 October 2026 (SEA, Lv.90, Apocalypse Season 1)

Night Watch in the Lv.90 Apocalypse era: a Gatling crit build with Headshot Armor Break for MVPs and the Calamity Zone raid, a Pistol Fire Dance build with Echo Shot for PvP, the General Set II, and which gun each Apocalypse trait belongs to.
Our take
The RO New World team's own view
- Who it suits: players who can stand still behind a frontline and want steady boss damage (Gatling), and PvP or GvG players who like to jump into a fight (Pistol). The Rifle is only for players who already own a red Lv.2 Lethal Beat.
- What to do first: get the Royal Avengers Gatling Gun III and the General Set II, then put Headshot Armor Break on the gun's Starcore. Before the raid, build Guard 80, then Guard 160, and only then chase Break.
- The biggest trap: rolling red special skills before you choose your gun. On Taiwan's server a red roll is tied to one gun type and cannot move to another. The second trap is Lucky Strike or Massive Magazine on a Gatling, which never casts the skills that use Aim stacks.
- Our verdict: a strong Apocalypse class with cheap gear outside the gun. Headshot Armor Break (+30% damage from you after a crit) is the biggest single gain, and the Hydra Card finally gives you a damage card for the three Demi-Human raid bosses.
Key findings
One Apocalypse trait per gun
Each class trait fits one gun. Gatling (and Shotgun) take Headshot Armor Break: a crit makes the target take 30% more damage from you for 6s. Pistol takes Echo Shot: Fire Dance bullets deal 30% extra echo damage. Rifle takes Lucky Strike, but only with a red Lv.2 Lethal Beat. Taiwan players skip Massive Magazine (5 extra hits): no special skill supports Magazine for One, so they treat it as a toy on every gun. A trait stays on its gun, so two guns means two Starcores.
Hydra Card works on three raid bosses
The English game text says "Human" on the Hydra Card and on the DMG vs Human% trait, but the Chinese game text uses the same race word as Demi-Human (the race of Amon Ra, Pharaoh and Anubis). So Hydra (weapon, damage vs Demi-Human +12% to 20%) and DMG vs Human% (4.05% to 6%) are real raid picks. Test it on your first clear: our earlier guide said no such card existed.
The Gatling does not need skill runes
Taiwan tests showed that basic attacks are not single-target skills, so Single-Target Amplification does nothing for a Gatling, and Auto Grenade Launcher grenades do not get AoE Amplification. Take runes that work all the time instead: Desperate Strike, Layered Blade, Abnormal Damage Boost and Balanced Defense.

MVP build: Gatling crit with Headshot Armor Break
Neutral · Headshot Armor BreakOur Lv.70 Gatling grenade build, grown up: fast crit basic attacks under Gatling Fever, grenades from the drone, and Headshot Armor Break so every crit makes the MVP take 30% more damage from you.
Stats
AGI: frequency 7
Reach attack frequency 7 in a fight. On Taiwan's server, 3.35 on the bare panel plus a priest buff reaches 7 once Gatling Fever and Last Stand are on.
LUK: CRIT 100
Focused Aim gives CRIT 30 and a priest gives 30, so 40+ on your own panel is enough. Crits trigger Headshot Armor Break.
DEX: the rest
DEX and LUK both add ATK. Put leftover points in DEX once speed and crit are reached.

CRIT inflicts a debuff on enemies for 6s, increasing damage they take from you by an additional 5~30%.A crit puts a 6s debuff on the target: it takes 30% more damage from you (red quality). Gatling players on Taiwan's server all run it, and they report that the debuff also counts as a status effect for Abnormal Damage Boost.Gear

How to play
- Put Focused Aim, Gatling Fever, basic attack and Auto Grenade Launcher on auto. Cast Last Stand and Platinum Altar by hand: they cannot be active together.
- Keep Platinum Altar on your quick bar. Taiwan players use it to cancel Last Stand and move away; Last Stand does not go on an early cooldown, and you get a shield.
- Skip Magazine for One and the Booster Machine Gun III, which only boosts it. Taiwan players leave Magazine for One unlearned on a Gatling.
- Pyro (red) only helps against monsters at 7, where it stacks up to 5 times +2% all-element damage. Lumina 4 adds +8% against targets with a status effect.
III · Calamity Zone raid
Raid build: Gatling with Headshot, Guard first
Neutral · Headshot Armor BreakThe same gun and trait as the MVP build, with Season 1 stats on every Starcore and cards for five Large bosses. The Gatling's long range lets you keep shooting and only step out of red circles.
Stats
Guard 80, then 160
Guard: the season stat that cuts the damage you take in the raid. Build it first; a dead DPS does no damage. Aim for 240 before Hard.
Break 240 for Anubis
Break: the season stat that unlocks your damage in the raid. Anubis on Normal needs 240; missing it costs 40% of your damage.
CRIT 100+
Crit resistance is a common boss affix. Taiwan's crit builds want about 100 or more to keep Headshot Armor Break up.
Attack frequency 7
The same target as the MVP build.

How to play
- Guard before Break: step up Guard 80, then 160, then 240. Start with Amon Ra (no Break or Guard needed on Normal) and Dark Lord while your numbers grow.
- Desperate Strike lowers your defense by 12%, so it stays out of the raid runes.
- Choose boss affixes your party can handle. Crit resistance and Crit Damage -30% both hurt this build, so avoid them when you can.
- Moving costs a Gatling damage. Stand where you only need to step out of red circles, and use Platinum Altar to break Last Stand when you must run.
- On Anubis, too much damage too fast stacks mechanics and wipes the party. Follow the party's pace.

How to play
- Pyro 7 is the PvP color: damage to players +6%, and the target takes +4.5% damage and gets 10% less healing. Geo 4 adds -3% damage from players and a 10% HP shield every 15s.
- Fallen Angel in, Fire Dance, then out. Taiwan players rate the Pistol the most comfortable gun in GvG because it can always jump in and deal damage fast.
- Use Cracker before Fire Dance: with a pistol it slows and has a 90% chance to stun, which also triggers Curse of Stunning.
- For GvG fights where your side holds a position, a Gatling also works well. It is weak when you must chase or run.
Still unknown
- Off-hand: no gun build on Taiwan's server uses an off-hand card, and the game data does not mark guns as one- or two-handed. We treat all four guns as two-handed, so there is no off-hand Starcore or off-hand card.
- Whether players count as Demi-Human, so that Hydra, Mirage: Dracula and DMG vs Human% work in PvP. Classic Ragnarok works this way; nobody has tested it here.
- Whether the Headshot Armor Break debuff counts as a status effect for Abnormal Damage Boost. One Taiwan guide says yes, other players are not sure.
- How much Break and Guard a Lv.90 Royal gun carries. Taiwan lists about 125 Break for Royal weapons but does not name guns.
- Whether Elemental DMG% (and Nile Rose's All Elemental DMG) adds to Neutral bullets. Taiwan players use Nile Rose, so we assume it does, but we still put Neutral DMG% first.
- Taiwan buffed the grenade drone in late June. SEA may launch Season 1 with older or newer numbers, so the balance between Crimson Marker, Ace in Play and Rapid Warm-Up can change.
- Exact SEA stat numbers at Lv.90. Our targets (attack frequency 7, CRIT 100, bare panel 3.35) are from Taiwan's server.
